Description:
Vidhyachal, the sacred abode of Goddess Durga, is located about an hour and a half drive from Varanasi. Here, Maa Durga manifests in three divine forms: Maa Vindhyavasini, Ashtabhuja, and Kali Khoh. The Vindhyavasini Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where the thumb of the Goddess fell. According to the Durga Saptashati, Maa Durga chose Vidhyachal as her abode after defeating the demon Mahishasura.. Mahamaya, the eighth child of Yashoda, came to Vindhyachal after escaping from Kansa and made Vindhyachal Hill her abode and resided in the form of Ashtbhuja: the Goddess with eight hands. Kali Khoh is the place where Maa Kali stayed after vanquishing Raktabija. It is unique as the only Maa Kali temple in the world where her tongue is depicted in Khechari Mudra. While the exact origins of these temples are unknown, they are mentioned in ancient scriptures such as the Durgashaptsati. As your visit to Vidhyachal concludes, you will leave with a deep sense of spiritual fulfillment and peace. The serene temples, combined with the breathtaking views from Vindhyachal Hill, offer a profoundly enriching experience that blends spiritual significance with stunning natural beauty.
